I am ending 2016 on a high by sharing my stay at Alila Jabal Akdhar.
Earlier in the year I entered Alila’s #15degreescooler instagram competetion and was estatic to find out that I had won a 2 night stay at Alila Jabal Akhdar.
Alila Jabal Akhdar is a 2 hours drive from Muscat, heading towards Nizwa. The hotel lies on top of the mountains at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level. The road there is very steep and you will need a four wheel drive. There is a check point to ensure that you have the right car for the drive up.
Just before arriving to the hotel I stopped to explore the Jabal Akdhar mountain and although I am no hiker I couldn’t resist not going to the edge and taking a picture!
The views you get to see up there are simply breathtaking and so quiet that I would be able to hear a pin drop.
I arrived just in time to watch the sunset, so I made myself comfortable in the rose lounge as I waited for my room to be prepared.
Sadly I got very bad nausea from the drive up and spent most of my time there in my room. I wanted serenity, serenity is what I got!
The view from my room the mountain view suite, simply breathtaking!
Ironically I felt better the day I was leaving, so got up early and enjoyed my peaceful cold morning exploring Alila.
One of the things I did enjoy apart of the scenery was the weather, the day I took the pictures above it was 12 degrees C!!
The hotel is beautifully designed in a mix of tradition with just a slight touch of modernity!
Thank you Alila Jabal Akhdar for the hospitality and great service I received during my stay.
I highly recommend you put Alila Jabal Akhdar on your to list when visiting Oman, you won’t regret it!
On this note I shall end the post wishing you all the best for 2017!
