As my fellow hijabi sisters around the world celebrate World Hijab Day I decided to share 7 reasons why I love wearing the hijab.
It is part of who I am and believe it or not being a hijab has played a MAJOR role in who I have become. At the age of 16 I was one of the first of my friends to wear it, I shared my hijab story for those interested. I never saw it as a burden to me it was simple, a commitment that I am making to my creator. It doesn’t really involve anyone but myself which I believe is where the beauty lies just like prayer it is between you and Allah.
Well I might have bad hair days but no one would know LOL
Wearing the hijab in addition to it being and act of worship it is teaches us to be modest. Although it may seems like it is a cloth on your head well it isn’t. It is a form of modesty, by concealing our physical beauty and letting our inner beauty (kindness, compassion, positivity) and our mind define who we are, not our looks.
That I am a muslim and that I have a huge responsibility of wearing it as I am representing not only myself but my religion. To have that kind of responsibility is HUGE especially in the times that we are currently living in.
I don’t really know how to explain this but subhan Allah that is how I feel..
Alhamdulilah the ability to inspire muslim women to wear it and own it.
Dressing up modestly is a daily challenge! So wearing the hijabi pushes my creative fashion sense to find pieces that I can put together to suit my style! Yup the struggle is indeed very real but grateful that there are many designer lables now offering modest fashion for women like us.
Here I am wearing House of Zaya‘s Summer Trench in Grey and my smile as always 🙂
Ladies hijabis and non hijabs together we rise, always!
