What best way to celebrate the long national day holidays than to spend it at the Shangri La Muscat Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa.
Oman just celebrated its 46th National Day on the 18th of November and we were given 2 days holiday the 23rd & 24th of November combined with the weekend that is 4 days…sweet!!
So instead of heading off to Dubai I decided treat myself and the kids and spend it at the Shangri La Muscat.
If I were to describe it in one word it would have to be breathtaking, everything about this resort is surreal, kind of like the resorts you get to see in movies.
It is about 30-45 mins from Muscat International Airport, head to wadi kabir, take the Qantab exit and then follow the signs to the hotel.
There are 3 hotels Al Husn, Al Bandar and Al Waha. You can read more about the different hotels on their website.
The girls and I stayed in Al Waha which is the family hotel. Our room had a beautiful view and we had easy access to the pool from the staircase which lead us right to the pool area.
One of the many fun attractions offered at Shangri La is the lazy river. It is where you grab an inflatable ring, get comfy and enjoy the ride on the river. Which is actually inspired by the falaj “the water system that brought water to remote Omani villages”.
The river takes you to Al Bandar and on the way you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery, surrounded by palm trees and the view of the beach definitely not one to be missed!
My kids and I had so much fun at the mini golf at the Health club. Shuttles are available from the hotel and or you can walk to it using the footpath by the beach.
Like most children the girls didn’t want to get out of the pool, so we stayed by the pool I call that a win/win situation.
I got to do lots of reading and blogging and dare I say that I managed to had a power nap, sleeping outdoors is so relaxing!
I am so blessed to live in Oman as it is a beautiful country with an inspiring leader and lovely people!
My girls and I had an amazing time at Shangri la Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa it is definitely one of our favorite hotels in Muscat and one that I highly recommend you try if you haven’t already!
Have you been to Shangri La Muscat? Was your experience as nice as ours?
