If you asked my daughters do you like waffles?
Their reply would be “Yes, we love them and have them every Friday for breakfast!”
You must have seen pictures of the oatmeal waffles on instagram, so today I will be sharing the recipe considering this coming Friday will be the last one before Ramadhan. So this would give you enough time to shop for the ingredients if you wanted to make them this weekend.
I love waking up on Friday gathering the girls and making waffles. It is essential for parents to find activities to bond with their children away from technology.
Since my daughters are now old enough (10 & 8 years old) they can help in the kitchen. I love the fact that they can learn to read a recipe, measure the ingredients and prepare the dish.
Be prepared for it to get messy but also for loads of fun and laughter.
We have been using recipe from Taste of Home for many years now and they come out perfectly every time.
Since it is only the three of us I halve the ingredients and end up with 4-6 pancakes depending on the sizes.
For the batter you will need
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup quick oats (grind them to form a powder)
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt & pinch of cinnamon
3/4 cup milk
1 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp melted butter
I follow the directions as stated in the recipe above, and I use a waffle maker to form the waffles.
Once cooked you can have them plain, topped with fruit or honey.
My daughters have theirs with nutella on the condition and they have some fruit too so Hadeel goes for strawberry and Dania bananas. I have mine with bananas, strawberries, sprinkled with honey and chia seeds.
One world YUM! I highly recommend you try it, it is delicious. As my girls tell me “Mama you are the best waffle maker!”
I hope you have as much fun making them and eating them as we do.
